First Time F&B Operator

The Challenge

Client D is a first-time F&B owner and he has just opened a quaint little cafe selling pastry and dessert. His capital was limited and he could use some help to secure funding / grant to defray the cost of his kitchen equipment. He also faced difficulty in hiring the manpower he need. Hence, his kitchen processes needs to be arranged in such a manner that requirement as little labour as possible.

The Solution

We were engaged to help him solve the problem. We did an analysis on his current situation and recommended a number of kitchen equipment that automate or semi-automate processes. With those equipment, he can keep manpower headcount low. We helped with the grant application for those equipment and were pleased to secure 50% funding for him.

Self-Production VS Buying from External Sources

The Challenge

Client C does food catering to foreign construction workers in Singapore. For many years, it purchased ready meals in bulk from a third party vendor and sell them to the construction workers at a mark-up. It soon appeared this business model may not be sustainable for long as its profit margin dwindle as a result from rising costs.

The Solution

Client C eventually opt to self-produce to lower cost. Many new kitchen equipment have to be purchased as part of this project. They include a bratt pan, a combi oven, rice and vegetable steamer, rice washing machine, cabinet, walk-in chiller etc. All these equipment allow our client to produce all their meals internally and boost productivity. Once again, after a comprehensive analysis, we helped our client craft a proposal demonstrating the productivity and benefits each equipment brought about. A 50% funding was granted for this project.

Central Kitchen

The Challenge

Client B is an established F&B operator with 3 outlets in Singapore, serving authentic Indonesian cuisine. Each outlet operates and produces its own food independently. Many of the processes carried out at each outlet are duplicates of one another and the measurement realised that it is operationally inefficient for such arrangement to carry on. Moreover, labour fatigue is a major issue as a huge number of kitchen process are still manually performed. Inevitably, kitchen processes are often time consuming and yield a low output.

The Solution

Client decided to build in a new central kitchen, to centralise all the kitchen processes and reduce duplicated processes for all its restaurant outlets as well as its catering services . To help automate its kitchen processes, client has planned to invest in a number of equipment including combi ovens, blast freezer, vegetable cutter, potato peeler, cooking mixer, dishwasher, walk-in chiller etc. We performed an in-depth analysis and propose to request for IGP funding based on our findings and recommendation. We were pleased to help our client secured a maximum funding of 50%.

Bottling & Capping Plant

The Challenge

Client C is a spirit distillery establishment. It wanted to export its house labels overseas, however, it was hampered by its production capacity. The production process is also labour intensive which often results in exhaustion in workers and product defects.

The Solution

To expand its capacity, it has to implement a new bottling and capping facility. The new machinery automates a number of process which in turn helps to reduce labour required in the production process. These labour is re-deployed to other areas within the establishment and workers’ satisfaction improved considerably. KAG helps to secure funding / grants as high as 50% for the client.
